Eco Insight reduces technology SME’s energy usage by 85%

The Challenge

Instrumentel, a UK-based small to medium-sized enterprise in the technology sector, wanted better visibility of energy efficiency in their building to reduce consumption and costs.

Like many office-based businesses with no large machinery or high consumption assets, they made the assumption that there was very little that could be done to reduce overall energy consumption, or the cost of an increasing energy bill that made up over 13% of establishment costs.

The Solution

Instrumentel installed Eco Insight, a Unipart energy-monitoring product, to monitor, analyse and optimise energy consumption in real-time.

Eco Insight’s sensors targeted electricity and gas feeds to pinpoint where energy usage was highest across the site.

Eco Insight pin-pointed that outside security lights were being left on for an unnecessary amount of time. Following this, Instrumental added sensors to the external lights so they reacted to movement, instead of being permanently on.
